Discovery Channel casting for new show: Looking for America's Top Engineer

The Discovery Channel is looking for America’s most creative and daring techies, machinists, inventors and engineers to design, build, and BLAST their way to a Grand Prize on their new competition TV show TOP ENGINEER.

A handful of lucky men and women will be chosen to take on exciting challenges from various engineering fields at the state-of-the-art WET design facilities (www.wetdesign.com) in California.

No, you don’t need to have an engineering degree to compete on this show, but you MUST be able to design, build, test and integrate an idea into a final product that WORKS. These will be fast-paced, hands-on, VISCERAL challenges! If your experience is strictly behind the keyboard, then this show is NOT for you.

We are looking for visual effects experts, accomplished home shop machinists, contractors and engineers with backgrounds in electrical, civil, structural or mechanical engineering.

If you have an outgoing personality and are ready to get your hands dirty for the chance to win a GRAND PRIZE and the title of TOP ENGINEER, then we want to hear from you.

Remember, this is a competition on reality TV, so really shy folks, not into the stress, constant creative challenges and public spotlight, are likely not right for this.

CASTING Asian Actor and others for Student Short

Chatham U. MFA grad student looking for some actors for a short film shooting in early November. The movie is 3-5 minutes long and has no dialogue. Should shoot over one afternoon/evening.

Black Boot Productions is currently casting all roles for the feature film, The Idea Thief. The film is a comedy about a struggling author’s personal battle against a plagiarist. Shooting is slated for summer, 2010.

Joe: early thirties, slim and ordinary-looking. An easy-going guy, lately driven to emotional extremes by personal and professional difficulties.

Wendy: late twenties, slim and pretty in a girl-next-door way. Joe’s best friend. Supportive and intellectual, with a sarcastic sense of humor.

Pharaoh: early thirties, thick but not fat. A filmmaker with an eccentric personality. Impulsive, hyperactive, and very driven. Wears all black.

Stormy: early thirties, fat. A sloppy, beer-guzzling, oversized kid who wants nothing more than to drink, get laid, and goof off. He’s also as loyal as a golden retriever.

SUPPORTING ROLES:



Emily: late twenties, slender and pretty. Wendy’s lover. Lately very emotional after unwillingly breaking up with Wendy.

Mike: voice only. Joe’s spirit guide who gives him advice on life. Should have the polite, chipper voice of a good telemarketer.

Fred: Forties. Joe’s agent. Very businesslike—polite, but stiff.

The Fabulous Adventures of Mr. Buckethead.

We are looking for actors who are 5'8” to 6'4” atheletic model build.
Don't need to be overly muscular, but looking for someone who has experience in dance/fight choreography,
martial arts, mime and possibly sign language.
Someone who enjoys things that are retro can be a plus.
The actor has NO LINES. The ability to communicate through gesture and movement is very important.

The production company for "The Next Three Days" has hired Nancy Mosser Casting to head up the extras casting department. The film starring Russell Crowe and directed by Paul Haggis will start shooting on October 2nd with all locations in the Pittsburgh area.

Casting Call @ Ross Park Mall For Love And Other Drugs

One area starting to see some green shoots is Pittsburgh's film and TV business with at least 4 and perhaps five major pictures scheduled to be shot here in the next few months.

EXTRAS NEEDED FOR “LOVE AND OTHER DRUGS”
A FEATURE FILM STARRING

“Love and Other Drugs”, directed by Edward Zwick will be filming in the Pittsburgh area starting in mid-September until early December of this year.

We will be looking for people between the ages of 15 and 75 to work as extras, stand-ins, photo-doubles, and silent bits. The pay rate will vary depending upon what you are cast as.

A stand-in is a full-time position, and to be considered you must be available everyday for 12 hours and have reliable transportation. Everyone else should be prepared to work at least one full day or several days in a row.

An open casting call will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, August 29th at Ross Park Mall in Ross.
