Seductive Suggestions @ Wizard of Oddities

I was wandering around on Butler Street yesterday with my good friend Laurenty. It wasn't exactly aimless; we had coffee and then peeked in at a couple galleries along the street. One ofmy regular stops, Wizard of Oddities, was in the process of installing a new show. Mia Donna Maneer is the artist whose solo Seductive Suggestions opens this Friday.

The works are very fun and of course extremely reasonably priced. They are quite a kicky little collection of photographs. The opening promises to be a multi-sensory affair, with body painting and music.

Works from Sam Thorp'sVoyeuristic Intentions series are on exhibit at Wixard of Oddities. The gallery does short shows, so try to get there soon!

Several of the pieces are framed with reclaimed windows, playing up the sense of watching a private moment. The palette that Ms. Thorp uses is sweet and pale. The subject matter addresses starkly intimate moments, which creates enough tension to intrigue.
