Martin Wilner, a NY artist with work in my flat files sent me this interesting email about a project he did, along with a New York Times piece on it.
"In an unusual ploy Mr. Aronofsky sent his screenplay to a group of artists, some known only for their comic book work. The film’s structure was similar to that of a graphic novel, he noted: “The first 60 pages, you don’t really know what’s going on, but then it starts to focus. I think a lot of the artists responded to that.”
He invited them to interpret the film in their chosen medium before Warner Brothers releases the movie on Nov. 22. A result: 11 strikingly different visions of what the movie is all about. The studio will use the illustrations on its Web site promoting “The Fountain.”"
The Times also published the artist’s works. Interesting.
